Coiled in the curves of the Vltava river, the Old Town is just a stone's throw from the ultramodern Karlin district. The Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque period, Art Nouveau, the Communist regime all successively mark the physiognomy of the city. Many artists have left traces here.
